our vermont story
We grew up in Vermont, met in high school, traveled the world, got married and realized there might not be a better place to live on earth than our home state. We started Republic of Vermont to share what we love about Vermont: the scents, the tastes, the natural beauty and the joyfully weird, hard working people that make this place completely, genuinely unique. Ten years (and two kids later) we're still thrilled every time someone orders and we get to send a little piece of Vermont to a new home.
our history
We quit our day jobs to start an organic maple syrup and honey farm in the mountains of Goshen, VT. What started as a two-person sugaring operation and apiary has grown into something broader: a brand built around our intense love for our weird little state. We still farm, but these days we spend most of our time designing (owls and loons are personal favorites), shipping orders, and figuring out how to build a business in rural Vermont that reflects the quiet, hardworking values of our friends and neighbors.
maple + honey sourcing
We still run a small organic farm, but most of our maple syrup and honey now comes from a handful of local Vermont farms - many of whom are friends we've gotten to know as we've grown our own farm. It's a privilege (and the coolest thing we get to do) to support other small organic operations keeping Vermont's fields and forests in agricultural production while spreading the finest maple/honey across the country.
